Skydiving – Bay of Islands

So we drove up to Northland again this week and stayed in a place called Paihia which is in the bay of islands. We went up Friday evening which gave us the whole day free on saturday to look around and do some touristy things :).

We spent Saturday going to the waitangi treaty grounds which is where an agreement was signed between the people of new zealand. The weather wasn’t amazing so we decided not to go over to Russel this time … It was originally the capital of New Zealand so i will have to fit it in at some point!

We spent the rest of Saturday chilling out an generally freaking out about the next day :S … We go to the jump site and waiting around for a while before getting ready and going up in the plane. Out of the four of us one was doing the 12000 ft jump and three of us were doing the 16000 ft jump. Lina went first and then freaked out the others when she came back and told it in close detail haha … i felt so much better doing it this time maybe because i knew what to do and what to expect … also maybe because i didn’t have 5 hours waiting for the weather to clear and overthinking the jump!!

Me Olivia and Elin all went up together which was really nice and it was rather fun facing olivia and watching her get more and more worried as the plane climbed … when we passed through the clouds and were told it was about half way we all got a little worried … then with some tightening of straps we were ready to jump and i was out the door in a matter of seconds. They said we would fall for about 70 seconds but it felt slower than the last time i did it and that was apparently only 30 secs!!!

It was amazing again!!! and i would probley do it again!! … the guys we jumped with did it about 20/30 times a day!! i imagine it would get a little boring in time but what an amazing job that would be!!!

    Hi Sophie,
We stayed at the Copthorne hotel when we visited Paihia. We went to the Treaty House and out to the Hole in the Rock. We also visited Russel. It was winter when we visited so the weather wasn’t too good. You will be pleased to know that we didn’t leap out of an aircraft whilst there. Take care and have a great time.
    Love,
    Ray and Jill.
